If you’re about to ramp up your seasonal hiring, you’re in luck! There’s a new player in the recruitment game. I’m of course talking about the new Jobs feature on Facebook. And, the best part about Facebook is that it’s completely free to post your jobs.
There are two ways to take advantage of the Facebook Jobs feature: 1) by using an official Facebook partner, such as Talentify, to help automatically manage thousands of jobs; or 2) you can post a job manually. But just how does one go about posting a job on Facebook? Let’s take a look at how you would go about manually setting up a Jobs on Facebook posting for seasonal hires:
1. Log in to your company Facebook page
If you don’t already have one, creation of a company page is easy – simply go into Facebook and follow the instructions.
2. Create the job posting
You can start posting a job from two distinct locations within Facebook. You can see a new Jobs tab from your own page:
Or directly from the jobs marketplace:
Both of these work just as well, so choose whichever you find most convenient for you.
3. Add the job description
Make sure you add as much information as possible. Particularly the pay rate – this is essential. And if you offer any benefits, make sure to add them here. It’s always good to fill in as much information about the job as possible.
When you are choosing the location, try to use the exact location of where you are. Seasonal hires – well, everyone really – prefer working closer to home and Facebook will show the candidates jobs that are closer to them.
Always add at least one screening question, if not more. Jobs on Facebook allows for multiple types of questions – take advantage of this by asking as many relevant questions as possible. This is an important step that will save you time reviewing the flow of candidates you will receive. If you are using Talentify, the platform will automatically generate these questions for you based on your job description.
Don’t put the entire job on the job title. You want the candidate to read the job description after all. A good job title makes the candidate want to find out more without giving too much away.
Adding an image to the job posting is also important because it will give the candidate a better feel for what kind of company you are.
5. Sit back, relax, and watch as Facebook sends you candidates via FB messenger and to your email.
Be quick in reviewing the candidates. They are almost certainly applying to dozens of other seasonal jobs at the same time. If you fall behind a day or even a few hours, you may miss out on candidates.
Pay attention to this because you can go from reviewing the candidate to hiring them really quickly. Once the ball starts rolling, seasonal hires often would like to start as soon as possible.
Don’t forget to close the job posting if you have enough candidates. You don’t want candidates wasting time hiring to a job that’s already filled.
Facebook Jobs is great because it’s free, allows for geolocation, and can reach a brand new market of candidates at no cost to you. A lot of companies use seasonal employees so you need to find quality candidates fast in order to beat out the competition.
It might not be necessary, but if you still need more candidates you can always pay to boost the Job. If you are a larger employer, doing it by yourself is inefficient, so you can use a platform such as Talentify to help automate the process.
